Last days at the old sales tax rate -

It’s no news that the country is broke, and that the State of California has been leading the way in the recession for probably a couple of years now.

We know Coopstuff isn’t a political site but we just had to get one little dig in: A reminder to California residents that the sales tax rate is going up 1% (one penny on the dollar), effective April 1st, 2009.

No, much as we wish it were, it’s not an April Fool’s joke.

So if you were thinking about buying, do so in the next day or so, because rates most certainly are going up….

I have a question regarding debt consolidation. I have about 15k worth of debt and have tried applying to two companies for a debt consolidation loan and was denied both times. I thought about trying what one of the other posters suggested , writing to the individual companies threating a voluntary bankruptcy order. I have about 10k in the bank, but I don’t want to borrow from that lender because I wouldn’t be able to use the money in my account. My credit is only good. What other options do I have? Thanks
